"Little Flowers" is a docu-series aimed at illuminating the distressing reality of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA), especially when it occurs within families. The series aims to unravel why CSA rates are increasing in America, how perpetrators often escape justice, the lasting impact on survivors as they grow into adults, the intricate ripple effect on families and society at large, and the broader implications on our culture. It also seeks to probe into the reasons children often suffer in silence, offering potential strategies for societal intervention to prevent CSA.

The purpose of this docu-series is rooted in raising consciousness, galvanizing action, imparting knowledge, and catalyzing societal transformation. Despite advancements in educational efforts and legal reforms to prevent CSA, the grim reality persists — hence the imperative for a deeply compelling and impactful exploration with Little Flowers.

I had the opportunity traveling the entire globe with two different educational theater companies, promoting awareness of and advocating for sexual assault prevention, from 2009-2016 for nearly seven years. At the second company, Catharsis Productions, I was able to engage with thousands directly, post-performance, with eye-opening narratives. My encounters with survivors' stories, profoundly affecting and disheartening, marked the pervasive reach of this issue for me. This project stems from a conviction that CSA knows no bounds of race, gender, or socioeconomic strata, as substantiated by my countless encounters with survivors across diverse backgrounds.

The Episodes

The documentary series comprises 5-8 episodes, each running 20-30 minutes, meticulously designed to uphold ethical guidelines, respecting survivors' privacy and sensitivities. The episodes will feature survivor testimonials, insights from psychology experts, and powerful spoken word poetry performances weaved throughout by talented artists, all advocating for justice, awareness, and transformative change.

The Budget

To actualize this vision, a budget of approximately $50,000 is sought, leveraging a combination of grants, sponsorships, crowdfunding, and partnerships. By harnessing the generous support of volunteers and industry connections, the goal is to create a stellar film, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit even on a modest budget. The timeline spans 15-17 months for pre-production and production, followed by 4-7 months for post-production, culminating in an approximate two-year project duration.

The Distribution

The distribution plan includes investing wisely in film festival submissions and engaging a reputable distribution agent. Additionally, pitching to established television networks and mass distribution streaming platforms, leveraging personal connections, forms a strategic component of the distribution strategy. Your contribution to this project would be instrumental in catalyzing a profound and lasting change within communities, reaching beyond the boundaries of the documentary.

"Little Flowers" aims to break the silence surrounding CSA, disrupt the cycle of generational trauma, and redefine the legacy we pass on to future generations. With your support, my team and I aspire to create a poignant and thought-provoking narrative, fostering a world where perpetrators don’t have the opportunity to harm another child, where survivors' voices can be openly heard and supported, and deep healing can begin.
